Channels
Every team has multiple channels.
Each channel focuses on a topic, project, or department.
Navigate Teams
Use the buttons on the left side to switch between:
Activity Feed
Chat
Teams
Meetings
Files
Join or Create a Team
Find Personal Apps
Add Apps
Sign In
Windows: Start → Microsoft Corporation → Microsoft Teams
Mac: Applications folder → Microsoft Teams
Mobile: Tap the Teams app icon
Sign in with your Office 365 or Teams free username and password.
Pick a Team and Channel
A team = people, conversations, files, and tools in one place.
A channel is for discussions about specific topics or projects.
Click Teams, select a team, and then choose a channel to explore conversations, files, and tabs.
Start a Conversation
With a team: Go to a channel, type a message, and click Send.
With a person or group: Click New chat, type their name(s), and send your message.
Start a Meeting
Click Meet now under the message box.
Add a meeting name and invite people.
If replying to a thread first, the meeting is linked to that conversation.
Add Emojis, Memes, or GIFs
Click Sticker below the message box.
Choose from memes, emojis, or GIFs to personalize messages.
@Mention Someone
Type @ + name to tag someone.
Use it @team to message the entire team.
Use it @channel to notify everyone following that channel.
Make Video and Audio Calls
Click Video call or Audio call in chat.
Click Calls on the left to dial a number, check history, or view voicemail.
Reply to a Conversation
Channel conversations are threaded.
Click Reply, type your message, then click Send.
Work with Files
Click Files on the left to view all files shared across Teams.
Click Files in a channel to see files shared there.
Click More options (…) next to a file for more actions.
You can even pin files as tabs at the top of a channel.
Add a Tab in a Channel
Stay on Top of Things
Share a File
Click Attach under the message box.
Select a file location and the file you want to share.
Choose to upload a copy, share a link, or use other sharing options.
Search for Items
Type in the command box at the top and press Enter.
Choose Messages, People, or Files to filter results.
Use Filter to refine your search.
Find or Add Apps
Click More apps (…) to view your personal apps.
Open or uninstall them, or visit the Store to add new ones.
